ABSOLUT ART BAR 2017
On the 23rd of September, during the Absolut Art Award weekend, Absolut Art Bar returns to Stockholm in a highly anticipated collaboration with the Swedish music collective Studio Barnhus and the illustrator and artist Leo Hallin.
Absolut continues to offer artists and writers a creative platform through the Absolut Art Bar concept. This years site-specific installation, titled Mareld, will engage the visitors to reimagine a prehistoric geological event, envisioning the natural history of Sweden right in the heart of the Swedish capital.
Studio Barnhus describe themselves as ”a blob of colour splashed right onto the gray scales of modern dance music” and consists of the trio Axel Boman, Petter Nordkvist and Kornél Kovács.
– Worldbuilding is what we try to do, all the time. Usually the end-product from Studio Barnhus is a record. Working with Absolut has allowed us to go beyond the walls of the studio to create a new physical room together with Leo ”LeoLyxxx” Hallin, a visual artist who has shaped our label in profound ways since the start, says Studio Barnhus.
The collective will create an alternative geographical story originating from Swedish mythology and folklore that will emerge the guests in a vision of the the Swedish forest. Projected LED animations by Leo Hallin will capture a transfigured landscape from sunset to sunrise, revealing life in the fantasy woodlands together with dream-like yet playful illustrations.
– We are excited to be continuing the Absolut Art Bar series with Studio Barnhus, says Saskia Neuman, Global Art Manager, Absolut.
In addition the menu will feature a selection of Artist Cocktails design by Studio Barnhus to carry the vision of Mareld even further.
Absolut Art Bar offers a changing nightly program of live music including DJ sets by Studio Barnhus themselves.
